What Bateaux-Mouches is

Bateaux-Mouches is a Paris company, founded in 1949 by Jean Bruel, that runs cruises on the Seine from the Port de la Conférence at the foot of the Pont de l'Alma. The company writes its name with a registered-trademark sign, while "bateau-mouche" is also used for sightseeing boats on the Seine in general.

If you searched for any sightseeing boat, other operators run similar cruises from other piers, and the Seine cruises overview compares them. An encyclopedia entry traces the word to the Mouche area of Lyon, where the first boats were built.

Which Bateaux-Mouches cruise

This page covers four Bateaux-Mouches cruises. The sightseeing cruise is one open-ticket hour. The evening cruise here is that same ticket on a late sailing, with no dinner; the operator lists no separate evening ticket on the pages this guide read. The rows put the four on the same five fields.

Times by season and date

The timetable changes with the season, lunch runs on set days and dinner runs every day. Pick a date to see which rule applies to it. The operator's ticket page repeats this rule and does not list individual boats, and sightseeing tickets are open, so you do not book a time slot.

The rule changes between seasons, and the operator adds boats on some dates.

The sightseeing boat leaves from and returns to this pier with no stops. Going up the river it passes the Louvre, the Town Hall and the Conciergerie, turns near the Arab World Institute, returns through the arm beside Notre-Dame, and continues past the Musée d'Orsay towards the Eiffel Tower. The captain may change the route depending on the height of the Seine.

What it costs

One row per cruise or menu, each with the ticket type and the date it was read. The sightseeing ticket has a standard fare and a lower fare on the official website. Lunch and dinner are priced by menu.

Prices in euros, as the operator shows them. A child fare applies to the ages in the Child column. Prices change, so check the official site for your date. Special evenings (New Year, Valentine's Day, Bastille Day, Mother's Day, Christmas lunch) have their own rates on the operator's cruise page.

Before you go

The sightseeing cruise has no dress code on the pages this guide read. Dinner cruises ask for smart dress and may refuse boarding to guests in sportswear, flip-flops, Bermuda shorts and baseball caps. For lunch, on Oct 4, 2026, the operator's information page says smart-casual dress is appreciated, and its help page says it is required, so dress smart-casual.

  • Be at the mooring point no later than 15 minutes before boarding.
  • A sightseeing ticket is open and does not guarantee a seat. If a boat is full, boarding can move to a later departure.
  • No animals are allowed on board except dogs that accompany visually impaired people.
  • The Paris tourist office lists a removable ramp from the pier, no steps in the boats and no adapted toilets on the boats.
  • The captain may change the route depending on the height of the Seine.

Where to book

Thinking about Bateaux Parisiens too?

The difference you can check first is the pier. Bateaux-Mouches boards at the Pont de l'Alma, and the Paris tourist office lists Bateaux Parisiens at the Port de la Bourdonnais, below the Eiffel Tower. The comparison sets the two side by side on the same fields.
